Concerts
The Bytown Voices will present their spring concert Here's to Song on Sunday, May 2 at 3:00 at St. Basil's Church (Maitland Avenue, just north of the Queensway).
The 40-voice choir will perform a wide variety of music: a medley of Andrew Lloyd Webber, an American Spiritual arranged by John Rutter, the ever-popular Irish folk song Shenandoah as well as 5 Nursery Rhymes arranged by Ralph Hunter. Canadian content on the programme will include Here's to Song by Allister MacGillivray, arranged by Lydia Adams, conductor of the Elmer Iseler Singers. Trumpeters John Haysom and Kazimir Samjulo will accompany the choir in music of Bach and Handel.
The choir is conducted by Robert Jones, with piano accompaniment provided by Valerie Kilpatrick. There is plenty of free parking at the church and the building is wheel-chair accessible. Tickets, which are $15 (adults) and $6 (students), are available from choir members or at the door. For more information, phone Rosemary Covert at (613) 521-4997
