2019 - 2020 Season

April 26 Spring Concert
CANCELLED

Join Bytown Voices to celebrate 20 years of community choral singing at our Spring concert GLORIA! featuring Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria with choir, chamber orchestra and guest sopranos Lise Maisonneuve and Sylvia Larrass. Plus more glorious choral works including Song for the Mira and Paradise-Song of Georgian Bay and the world premier of Be Still a new work by local composer Lyndsay Bolden. Under the direction of Joan Fearnley, with pianist Carla Klassen.

Gloria! features the world premier of Be Still  by local composer Lyndsay Bolden. Of the piece she says "Be Still, written for my mother, is based on the biblical exchange between Moses and God in the form of the burning bush. It represents the voice of God, sweet and ethereal, yet powerful and compelling. I wrote it during a period of creative famine, where nothing I put on paper seemed to stick. The phrase "be still and listen" started to echo through my brain and thus, the piece was born. Even though the text came to me from a religious perspective, I feel anyone can relate to the call of 'be still and listen'."
